7.4 V 2200 mAh Battery Pack: Compatibility and Preflight

Confirm voltage, connectors, polarity and charge path before a 7.4 V battery pack becomes part of a robot power design.

7.4 V 2200 mAh Battery Pack: Compatibility and Preflight

What this guide proves

HW-7V4-2200-LIPO is either accepted into a verified compatible 7.4 V robot power path or deliberately kept out of the build. The decision is based on voltage, connector, polarity, load and charging evidence—not on physical fit alone.

Hardware and scope boundary

This 69 × 37 × 19 mm 7.4 V 2200 mAh pack has a DC 5.5 × 2.5 mm female connector and SM-2P male connector. It is a battery pack only unless a charger is explicitly listed. Use only a verified 8.4 V charging path; it is not a 5 V USB source, an 11.1 V pack or a direct replacement for another robot battery.

Prepare before applying power

Read the delivered battery label, system manual and charger label together. Work away from combustible material, inspect the pack and leads before each use, and do not construct an adapter or connector conversion from guesswork.

Procedure

  1. Record nominal voltage, approximately 16.3 Wh energy, connector type, delivered polarity and physical dimensions. Compare all five items to the target robot input path.
  2. For an HW-RRC-LITE-based design, confirm that the actual controller input harness, polarity, current budget and protection behavior are compatible with the pack. The controller input range alone does not prove a plug-and-play connection.
  3. Keep Raspberry Pi 5 power on a verified regulated 5 V / 5 A path; never connect this battery pack to Pi GPIO or USB-C as an assumed direct supply.
  4. Charge only with the confirmed 8.4 V charger and delivered procedure. Stay present during charging and stop on swelling, heat, odor, damage or an abnormal indicator.
  5. Perform a stationary, supervised low-load check before a motion test. Log voltage behavior and the actual runtime; the supplier reference runtime is not a guarantee for a different robot load.

Pass criteria and record

The build record contains pack identity, connector/polarity confirmation, matched charger, target input range, test load and a visual inspection result. A pack with unknown history or an unverified adapter does not pass.

Do not proceed when

Do not charge, use or transport a swollen, leaking, hot, damaged or unidentified pack. Stop if polarity, charger voltage, connector mating, load budget or the final robot-side protection path is uncertain.

Continue from here

After the power path passes, commission controller and sensor loads one at a time. Keep the delivered pack documentation with the robot maintenance record.
